Smile technique for eyes and vision

 SMILE Laser Eye Surgery

SMILE (small incision lenticule extraction) takes laser reshaping to a whole new level. The entire procedure is performed within the cornea without cutting the surface and at the end a tiny laser incision is made to remove the lenticule. SMILE is less invasive, heals fast and leaves the eye stronger, so physical activity can be resumed almost immediately.

Laser Vision Correction LASIK

LASIK Vision Correction

LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) encourages faster healing, as surface layers are preserved as a flap that is moved aside to allow the laser reshaping. At the end of the procedure, the flap is replaced and heals overnight. LASIK has been used for over 30 years and remains the most commonly used laser vision correction surgery in the world today.

 SILK Laser Eye Surgery

Dr Versace the first and only clinic in Australia to offer both SMILE and SILK (Smooth Incision Lenticule Keratomileusis) laser eye surgery.

SILK is the most technologically advanced technique that allows us to use the laser to reshape the cornea without disturbing the surface of the eye.

Lenticule extraction surgery as laser vision correction differs from LASIK and PRK in that rather than ablating corneal tissue with the laser to reshape it, a fine lenticule is created within the corneal stroma without disturbing the surface of the eye and then a tiny keyhole incision is created with the laser to remove the lenticule allowing the cornea to be reshaped.

PRK

Trans PRK is a no-touch laser vision correction surgery suitable for patients with short-sightedness and astigmatism. Healing takes longer as the surface layer grows back slowly.

Lens Implants Eye Surgery

Implantable Contact Lens (ICL)

An ICL is a refractive implant to correct common vision issues like myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism. Unlike some other vision correction options, an ICL is an additive technology that corrects vision without the removal of any corneal tissue.
