World Sight Day: Thursday 12 October
Have you had your eyes tested recently? Do you encourage your colleagues and employees to have their eyes tested as well?
No matter where you are or what job you do, it is important to prioritise and protect your eye health at work.
This includes everything from avoiding accidents in the workplace – such as chemical spills, projectiles or falls – through to reducing digital strain caused by prolonged computer activity.
Importantly, clear, healthy vision improves productivity, prevents workplace injury and improves employee well-being.
Love Your Eyes
World Sight Day is an annual global awareness day led by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness. Themed Love Your Eyes, the focus for this year’s campaign is to encourage workplaces to have the vision of their employees checked.
So please get behind the campaign by making eye health initiatives standard practice in your organisation, and by helping to promote eye health habits that will benefit the well-being, safety and productivity of your employees and millions of others worldwide. From factory floors and office buildings to staff rooms and studios, let’s ensure that eye care is available, accessible, and affordable to all.
Follow the 20/20/20 Rule
In and outside of the workplace, from tiny laptop screens to the biggest televisions, we spend our days staring at screens. But digital eye strain is becoming an increasingly bigger problem. A break of 20 seconds every 20 minutes can save your eyes and body from unwanted strain and pain.
